Bellevue Declares October as White Ribbon Against Pornography Month

At Monday night's City Council Meeting, Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders and Councilwoman Carol Blood presented a proclamation to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 2036 from the St. Mary's Parish which declared October 2015 as White ribbon Against Pornography Month in the City of Bellevue. Mayor Sanders and the Bellevue City Council encourage all citizens to wear or display white ribbons as a sign of their commitment to community standards of decency. The Catholics Daughters have created a websitewww.realmendontexploit.com which offers resources for those who have a loved one with a porn addiction or for anyone who wants to learn more about the fight against these materials as well as support the enforcement of obscenity laws!

Bellevue Community Foundation Awards Grants to Five Bellevue Organizations and Announces 2015 MVP Award

The Bellevue Community Foundation (BCF) awarded five grants to organizations that are making a difference in the Bellevue Community at their annual Bellevue Community Tailgate Party last Saturday night. These grants were awarded as part of the BCF’S 2015 grant cycle which was open to organizations that provide services within the City of Bellevue earlier this summer. This year the BCF Grant Committee chose Bellevue Junior Sports Association (BJSA), the Bellevue East After Prom Committee, the Bellevue Public Schools Foundation, Splash Pads for Bellevue and the Bellevue Economic Enhancement Foundation as the local organizations which will receive funding this year.

The City of Bellevue and the Bellevue Public Safety Foundation are encouraging you to show your support for the Bellevue Fire Department by by displaying a red light on your porch or yard this month. The Bellevue Public Safety Foundation has donated a limited number of red light bulbs which are available for FREE at City Hall during normal business hours and will also be distributed at the October 3rd Bellevue Farmers' Market in Washington Park from 8 am to Noon. Bellevue Loop Trail Closure Nears Completion

The Sarpy County Public Works Department in conjunction with Papio-Missouri River Natural Resource District and the City of Bellevue announced the closure of the Bellevue Loop Trail between mile markers 14 and 15. Anderson Excavating will close a portion of the Bellevue Loop Trail to complete the removal of the 5th Street Bridge which spans over the trail and Papillion Creek. The contractor will remove the bridge and regrade the adjacent levee. This closure should be completed by Friday, October 9, 2015, weather permitting. We are asking the traveling public to be aware of the closure and to plan activities accordingly. Bellevue Parks Department Announces Haworth Park Campground Closing Dates for the Season

The Bellevue Parks Department has announced that it will be closing Haworth Park Campground Loops B & C for the season on October 15 and A Loop will be closing on November 1. Additionally, A Loop restroom will be closed for the season starting November 15. The Parks Department also announced that the anticipated opening for Haworth Campground in the Spring will be April 18, 2016 for the season. The Bellevue Public Library Children's Department has initiated a campaign to try and win an Imagination Playground for the Bellevue/Offutt AFB community. If the Bellevue Library wins, the playground will provide local children a free, fun, creative outlet packed with fresh air and exercise. The public is invited to help by voting each day from Sept. 28 through Nov. 18 (the site accepts one vote per person each day). City of Bellevue Announces Lane Restrictions on Sections of Childs Road for Sewer Line Replacement

The City of Bellevue Wastewater Department has announced the following lane restrictions or closures due to the replacement of the sewer line. Beginning on Thursday, November 5, 2015 through Thursday, December 31, 2015 the south bound lane on Childs Road East from Bellevue Blvd. North to Moore Drive will be closed. Access to driveways may be inaccessible during some, or all, of this work.

Union Pacific Railroad Announces Short Term Road Closures for Track Maintenance

Union Pacific Railroad will be closing Camp Brewster Road at the crossing on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. for maintenance on one set of tracks. They will then be closing Childs Road at the crossing on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. for maintenance on one set of tracks.
