Overview
Gary Mixan was appointed Mayor of Bellevue in July of 2009 to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Ed Babbitt, who passed away while serving in office. Gary Mixan served as a Bellevue City Councilman for Ward 5 since 2002 and was elected to that position three times and served as City Council President prior to being appointed Mayor.
Mayor Mixan was born in Omaha, Nebraska and attended Gross Catholic High School where he participated in wrestling and a wide variety of other activities. He is a 1981 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.
Gary and his wife Kris have been married for over 13 years and have a son Matthew. Gary also has three grown sons from a previous marriage. Andy, Tony and Mark all live in the area and have all helped out with a number of their Dad’s business opportunities and all share a love of Husker football.
The Mixans are long time and active members of St. Bernadette Church and Gary is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3019. Community involvement has always been important to the Mixan Family.
