Omaha Public Power District is Asking Customers to Conserve Energy for Next Several Days

OPPD is asking customers to begin conserving energy today, and for the next several days, due to dangerously cold temperatures causing an increased demand for electricity.

High demand can put additional strain on our system. Taking some simple steps not only benefits our customers but also our neighbors, during the ongoing deep chill. These measures will also help lower your electric bills.

1️⃣ Lower your thermostat by 2 to 4 degrees below your normal temperature.

2️⃣ Avoid using appliances like your washer, dryer or dishwasher or charging electric vehicles — especially during peak usage times of 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.

3️⃣ Plan for the cold by preparing for the potential of power outages related to weather or other causes over the next several days by ensuring you have a flashlight, warm clothes and blankets, and any medications you need, handy. Charge electronic devices such as laptops and cell phones and download the OPPDConnect app for easy outage reporting.

Thank you for your efforts. For more energy conservation information, visit OPPD.com/ee
