City of Bellevue Authorities Seeking Public’s Assistance in Location of Missing Person

The City of Bellevue, along with the Bellevue Police Department, Bellevue Fire Department, and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 72-year-old Roger Hildebrandt of Omaha.

Mr. Hildebrandt left his residence on Monday, December 22, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., and did not return. On Tuesday, a family member located his vehicle at Camp Wa-kon-da at Fontenelle Forest, located at 402 Forest Drive in Bellevue.

Mr. Hildebrandt is a volunteer and frequent hiker at Fontenelle Forest and is familiar with the area. The Bellevue Police Department was notified of his disappearance on Tuesday, December 23, and initiated a search of Fontenelle Forest near Camp Wa-kon-da. The search remains ongoing, and it is unknown whether Mr. Hildebrandt is still within the area.

Multiple agencies and volunteer groups are actively searching the rugged terrain of Fontenelle Forest. Those assisting include the Bellevue Fire Department, Bellevue Police Department, Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Louisville Township Fire Department, Sarpy County Emergency Management, Papillion Fire Department, Offutt Fire Department, La Vista Police Department, Omaha Police Department, and members of the Fontenelle Forest Hiking Club, along with additional assisting agencies. Various resources, including search dogs, are being utilized in the ongoing effort to locate Mr. Hildebrandt.
