Bellevue Public Library Announces Reinstatement of Sunday Hours Starting on November 8th

The Bellevue Public Library is pleased to announce that Sunday hours will be re-instituted at the library starting on Nov. 8. Starting on that date, the library will be open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m.

The re-institution of Sunday hours is in direct response to input from the public. The library recently completed an accreditation process with the Nebraska Library Commission that included the creation of a strategic plan. As part of that process, the library held a town hall meeting and an in-house and online survey of the public. “One of the top areas of comment from the public regarded being open again on Sundays,” said Julie Dinville, library director. “We set this as one of our top customer service goals in our strategic plan, and we are very pleased that having Sunday hours again is going to become a reality.”

Dinville said that the Sunday hours are made possible through the support of the Bellevue City Council and City Administration. “Through their support and guidance, we were able to build our new budget to allow for funding to include Sunday hours,” she said. This does not include new staffing, she added. Instead, shifts for library personnel are being re-aligned when necessary and extra hours will be available to staff to help cover the hours on Sundays, Dinville said.

“We feel very happy to be able to respond to this request from the community, and the library will continue to seek out ways to try and provide better service to the public,” she said.

The library will also maintain its regular hours Monday through Saturday: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
