36th Street Resurfacing Project to Begin on Thursday, May 11th

The City of Bellevue Streets Department has reported that the 36th Street Resurfacing Project will begin on Thursday, May 11th. This resurfacing project will begin just south of the 36th & Capehart intersection and continue south to just south of Lynnwood Dr. The contractor has reported that milling will be conducted on Thursday, May 11th and traffic will be allowed during this time but please expect delays in traffic. Paving is expected to begin the following day on Friday, May 12th starting at 9:00am and this portion of 36th Street will be closed until approximately 3:00pm when the road will reopen to traffic.

The intersection of 36th & Capehart Road will be open for traffic throughout the work. However on Friday, May 12th Falcon Forest residents will need to enter/exit the neighborhood via Looking Glass Drive and Leawood Oaks residents will need to enter/exit their neighborhood to the east, via 28th Avenue & Leawood (to Capehart Road) or 25th & Lynnwood Drive. The City of Bellevue is encouraging motorists to use alternate routes on Friday, May 12th and bypassing the paving area by using Schneekloth Road to the south and 25th Street.

The City of Bellevue Streets Department would like to remind the public not to move or otherwise tamper with barricades or other warning devices.  They are the primary mechanism for identifying potentially unsafe conditions.  As applicable, please advise others of the upcoming work and the need to exercise due care when in areas near or adjacent to the construction areas and activities. For more information please contact the City of Bellevue Streets Department at 402-293-3126
