Jim was elected to the City Council in November 2014.
Jim grew up on a small farm in Minnesota and quickly learned the values of hard work, accountability, and fiscal responsibility, when his father died when he was 13 years old, leaving his older brother and him to help their mother run the farm. These values have served him well throughout his life.
Jim is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and the AF brought him to Bellevue in Dec 1989, where he retired from the AF in July 1993. About half of his AF career was spent as a B-52 Pilot and the other half as a weapons systems acquisition professional. He currently serves as a Director for a small software engineering and consulting company in Bellevue. Jim holds professional certifications in project management, test and evaluation management, quality management, and process improvement.
Jim is unabashedly pro-life and pro-second amendment, and believes in constitutional, limited government; personal responsibility; traditional family values; and faith in God. Jim has held, and currently holds, several leadership positions in his church..
Jim and his wife, Betty, have been married 42 years and have three children and six grandchildren.
