Bellevue Loop Trail to Remain Closed During Levee Enhancements Operations- "Updated as of April 23, 2021"

April 23, 2021 Update: The City of Bellevue Public Works Department and the Papio-Missouri River NRD would like to remind all area residents that the Bellevue Loop trail will continue to be closed due to continued levee improvements on and around the trail. This closure is currently expected to last through May of 2022. This closure allows the construction crews to work safely and is important to ensure the safety of any pedestrians wanting to use the trail. For public safety, barricades have been placed indicating the trail is closed.  Please do not move any barricades or otherwise tamper with barricades or other warning devices. Please see the attached map for area of closure.

As the construction continues to be performed to modify and enhance the Federal Levee System to better protect the City of Bellevue and Offutt AFB from another major flooding event, the Papio-Missouri River NRD and their contractor have informed the City of Bellevue the necessary trail closures are being ignored.

The Bellevue Loop Trail has been closed since the beginning of construction last fall and will remain closed from Capehart Road to Haworth Park until late summer 2020.  Upon which time, the Missouri River section of the trail will reopen, but the remaining portion along the Papillion Creek will remain closed until at least May 2021.  To date, portions of the trail have been partially or completely removed.  For public safety, barricades have been placed indicating the trail is closed.  The City of Bellevue Police Department will be monitoring access points to the trail/levee construction site and may issue citations to trespassers.

The City of Bellevue thanks you for your cooperation and patience during the construction of this project.
