City of Bellevue's 2018 Road Resurfacing Program to Begin on Monday, July 30th

The City of Bellevue's Public Works Department has announced that the 2018 Street Resurfacing Program is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 30th.  This contract was prepared in association with the Nebraska Department of Transportation and includes the following roadway segments tentatively scheduled to be completed in the order listed:

  1. Lincoln Road from West 16th Ave. to Harvell Drive
  2. Lincoln Road from Harvell Dr. to Bellevue Blvd N.
  3. Harvell Dr. from Birchcrest Rd to West 16th Ave.
  4. Chandler Road from 36th Street to Mose Avenue
  5. 36th Street from Cornhusker Road to Chandler Road
  6. Cedar Island Road from Meisinger Road to Childs Road
  7. Cornhusker Road from 25th Street to Fort Crook Road

Western Engineering Co. along with its subcontractors have been contracted to perform the work.  The City of Bellevue anticipates the major items of work for the first three segments will be completed by mid-August 2018 barring unforeseen circumstances.

The resurfacing program is one of the most visible programs the City undertakes each year.  Through this program the City resurfaces and repairs streets damaged by age, freezing and thawing, and other factors.  Generally, the work will consist of milling off 2” of the existing surface, and laying down a new asphalt surface course.  This new surface is smooth and will extend the life of the street. Utility adjustments of manholes, valve boxes, and inlets will be completed once milling and resurfacing.

As with all roadway construction activities, this work may cause an inconvenience to you.  When it is safe, local access will be provided during construction and when construction is not occurring.  It is not anticipated that the construction will require overnight roadway closures.  The public is asked not to move or otherwise tamper with barricades or other warning devices.  They are the primary mechanism for identifying potentially unsafe conditions.  If applicable, please advise others (including children) at your location of the upcoming work and the need to exercise due care when in areas near or adjacent to the construction areas and activities.
