Bellevue City Council Approves Funding for Facility Needs Study for the Library

On Monday, April 25th, the Bellevue City Council approved a request from the Bellevue Library Foundation for $3000 in Community Betterment funds to complete a facility needs study which is a key element in the Library's Strategic Planning for future services. Under the direction of Julie Dinville, the Bellevue Public Library recently completed state accreditation that for the first time required a strategic plan.  As part of that process a town hall meeting was held and a patron survey conducted. On the basis of these activities the Library has sought out input on how to move forward in meeting the current and future needs of the community. An important step in determining direction for the Bellevue Public Library and in planning for the future would be the completion of a facility needs assessment. No such study has been conducted in over 14 years. Completion of this study would help identify any limitations in the existing library facility and also recommend improvements that may be necessary to support new or expanded services and programs.

John Seyforth, from the Bellevue Library Foundation, presented the request to the City Council.
