City of Bellevue Signs Documents to Purchase Buildings on Wall Street

Purchase is First Step in Process of Creating a New City Complex

Author: phil.davidson/Monday, July 09, 2012/Categories: Announcements

Today, the City signed the final documents and purchased the building at 1410, 1500 and 1510 Wall Street.  This makes an historic day in the City of Bellevue as it begins the process of creating a new city campus.

The first stage will be to renovate the 1510 building for a new police station which will consolidate several divisions of the police department into one building.  The building will also include the Code Enforcement, Permits and Inspections, planning and Public Works Departments once renovations are completed.  BEA Systems will remain in the 1410 building as a tenant and great corporate citizen of the city.  After BAE Systems lease expires, City Hall will be moved into the building, the 1500 building needs renovation and will be used potentially for both city and private offices.

Mayor Rita Sanders stated as she signed the documents “this is a monumental occasion as we take the initial steps toward building an efficient user-friendly city campus which will serve not only our existing needs but our needs well into the future as we continue to grow”.

We needed to do this. At last Bellevue is getting on with it and moving our city forward. Now if we can just get downtown straightened out and fix the Ft CRook corridor the city will truly be making BIG moves and can compete for businesses moving into Nebraska.

I agree. Long overdue. Some of the offices at City Hall are embarrassing for employees and this will be very positive for the City.
