The Inaugural ACHIEVE’s Triathlon took place Sunday morning with over 100 participants. This event was co-sponsored by the City of Bellevue Recreation Department and began and ended in the parking lot of Gilbert Pool and Recreation area. Participants started with a 500-meter pool swim at Gilbert Pool. The second leg of the race was a 20 kilometer bike ride on parts of Old Towne Bellevue and Harlan Lewis Road before finishing with a challenging finish of a 5 kilometer run on the streets of Old Towne Bellevue for the final leg of the triathlon.

Doug Schaefer, who is the Principal of Logan Middle School in Bellevue, won the men's division while 13 year old Katie Patrick from Sioux Falls won the female title. There was also a relay team division which was won by "Team Last Minute" which was made up of Sam Pfaller (swimming), Peter Silberstein (cycling) and Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders (running). A complete list of results can be found by clicking here.

Thank you to event organizer Brian Inselman from Achieve Physical Therapy in Bellevue for his hard work in making this Inaugural Event a success. Also thanks to Bellevue Recreation Director Jim Shada and all his staff as well as the Bellevue Police Department for getting up early on Sunday morning to help make this event run smoothly. The plan is to make this an annual event, so it is time to start training for next year. Pictures of the event are attached below.
