Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders was elected to serve on the 2013-14 Executive Board of the League of Nebraska Municipalities. The elections was held at the League's annual business meeting in La Vista in conjunction with the League's 2013 Annual Conference.
According to their website, The League of Nebraska Municipalities is a nonprofit service association formed in 1909 to serve as a voice for Nebraska Municipalities at the Nebraska Legislature and is governed by a 15 member Executive Board comprised of municipal officials.
Bellevue City Administrator Dan Berlowitz said, "it is an honor that Mayor Sanders has been elected to serve on this board." "It is a compliment to Bellevue that its citizens have elected representatives that are respected across the State and can have a voice in matters that affect all of us."
Marlene Johnson, Mayor of West Point, will serve as President of the board this year and Alan Michl, Exeter Village Board Chair, will serve as president-elect of the organization's board; Chuck Harris, Mayor of York, will serve as Vice President, and Chris Beutler, Mayor of Lincoln, will remain a member of the board as past president.
Other Directors elected to the board are the following: Wendall Gaston, Mayor of Sidney; Roger Goldfish, Mayor of Ord; Roger Foster, Mayor of Crete; Stan Clouse, Mayor of Kearney; Jean Stothert, Mayor of Omaha; Alicia Toczek, Mayor of Loup City; and, Fred Feldges, Mayor of Alliance. Board representatives are the following: Brett Baker, City Administrator of Seward; Mary Peschel, Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer of Schuyler; and, Randy Woldt, Utilities Superintendent of Wisner.
