The City of Bellevue’s Parks Department has issued the following update regarding the cleanup of Haworth Park:
The historic 2011 flood left widespread devastation throughout the Missouri River region. Haworth Park experienced widespread destruction during this flooding event including the loss of a majority of the peninsula, significant damage to the campground facilities and boat ramps along with the many feet of silt and debris that were left to clean up after the flood waters receded. The City of Bellevue had strived to open all amenities at Haworth Park, including the public boat ramp and campground, by Memorial Day Weekend while keeping the safety of our citizens at the forefront of these efforts.
Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather conditions this season that we have all experienced, work at Haworth Park has been slowed and project completion schedules have been pushed back a minimum of 4 weeks due to these conditions. For this reason, Haworth Park will continue to be closed to the public until further notice. The Public Works Department and their contractors have been and will continue to work diligently toward opening the park as soon as possible while ensuring that it is a safe area for all visitors. The City of Bellevue will inform the public as soon as these amenities are ready to safely open. If you have any questions, please contact the City of Bellevue Parks Department at 402-293-3122.
