The Mayor's Commission on Drug Education and Prevention is requesting nominees for its annual Pat Kelly Award which is given out at its annual Community Drug & Alcohol Awareness Breakfast on October 26th. The Pat Kelly Award is given out to an individual or organization which supports and participates in efforts in the community in the area of education, prevention, intervention or direct services concerning drug and alcohol abuse in the community.
The award is named for Mr. Pat Kelly who served as the Sarpy County Attorney from 1974-1990. He established the first alcohol diversion and juvenile diversion programs in the State of Nebraska. Mr. Kelly also established programs aimed at preventing domestic violence where alcohol and drugs were involved.
We know there are a lot of people in our community who work daily to provide positive activities for the youth of our community or work hand in hand combating the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. If you know of someone who has impacted the youth of the Bellevue Community please nominate them to receive this award.
Nominees can be sent to lisa.rybar@bellevue.net or by phone at 402-293-3022. Please include the nominee's name, address and phone number along with a brief testimonial on why they are deserving of this award. Nominations will be accepted through October 19, 2012.
