Long Road Home Bicyclist's Enjoy Lunch at the Base Lake

Bicyclist are raising money and awareness for veteran's issues

Five bicyclist’s from the Long Road Home Project spent part of Thursday morning riding through Eastern Nebraska and enjoying lunch at Offutt’s Base Lake. The rider’s are on a 90 day and 5000 mile journey from Aberdeen, Washington to Washington, D.C.

The five riders are all United States Veterans who are biking across the country to raise awareness and money to assist other veterans in need of services on the long road to transitioning back to civilian life. The riders were joined for part of the day by bicyclists from the Bellevue Bicycle Club and other organizations who accompanied them on a part of their journey and then joined them for a brief ceremony and lunch at the Base Lake where they were greeted by a number of flag waving Bellevue citizens and military personnel.
