The Office of Professional Standards & Public Information assists in educating the public regarding law enforcement operations. Our responsibilities are outlined below:

Commendations and Complaints

We conduct thorough and timely investigations of any allegation of employee misconduct. We also celebrate the successes of our employees. Thus, various methods of reporting commendable performance as well as citizens’ concerns are available for the public’s convenience. Officer/Employee Complaint/Commendation forms are available at the front desk and 24/7 at the Information Table at the front entryway of the Bellevue Police Department. Members of the public may complete a form and turn it in at the front desk, email to professional.standards@bellevue.net, or mail to the Bellevue Police Department, 1510 Wall Street, Bellevue, Ne 68005. The public may also click the link below in order to complete an on-line version of the Officer/Employee Complaint/Commendation form.

If immediate attention is needed during regular business hours, the public may call the Office of Professional Standards at 402.293.3106 or email at professional.standards@bellevue.net. If immediate attention is required outside of regular business hours, the public may call 402-593-4111 and ask to speak with the on-duty Supervisor/Commander.  The public is encouraged to read the Guidelines for Officer/Employee Complaints and Commendations pamphlet prior to completing the form.

Employee Selection and Recruiting

The selection process for sworn and civilian employees, including the officer candidate interview boards, background investigations, and promotional examinations is managed by this Office. Please feel free to contact us for any recruiting and hiring questions.

Media and Public Information

We assist the Chief of Police with the release of information to the public and our media partners.
